Clean Up for Christmas with our Helpful Checklist

By |Published On: 20th November 2017|

Some of us may not want to admit it, but Christmas is just around the corner. To help you clean up for the festive season, we’re offering you our helpful checklist…

Earlier in the year, we created a cleaning checklist with our partner Landlord News to help landlords and tenants understand their duties when it comes to cleaning a rental property. While this is used predominantly for end of tenancy cleaning and inventory reports, you can also use it to make sure you tackle all areas of your home before the Christmas period arrives.

Clean Up for Christmas with our Helpful Checklist

Last week, we brought you the top tasks to get done around your property before Christmas, with one of those being to clean up. Now, we’re highlighting the importance of cleaning your home before hosting guests and opening presents – and our checklist can help.

Not only do you want your home to be spick and span for yourself and your family to enjoy, but you’ll also want to give a great first impression to any guests you’re hosting over the festive season. These are the top areas to focus on:

The kitchen

Of course, the kitchen is one of the most used rooms in a home over Christmas, as everyone likes to dig in to the cooking (and consuming!) of festive treats. Before things get messy with cranberry sauce and stuffing, make sure that the kitchen is cleaned thoroughly and organised to make life easier when cooking for the whole crew.

Our checklist will ensure that not a spec of grease goes amiss, helping you keep things clean and hygienic when making the Christmas dinner. It may be a big job, but it’ll be worth it! Get ready now before the turkey arrives.

The living space

However your living space is arranged, it’ll be likely that things will need to get moved around ahead of Christmas, as you’ll have a tree, decorations and lots of presents to contend with in just over a month’s time. Take this time as a chance to get everything cleaned up before you deck the halls. You should also think about where everyone is going to sit and how best to get as many people in (and comfortable) as possible.

It is highly likely that you’ll have children or willing relatives sitting on the floor, so it’s also a good idea to clean the carpets or put down a cosy rug if you have wooden floors.

Bedrooms

If you’re having relatives or friends stay at your home during the festive period, you can help them relax and feel comfortable by getting their bedrooms in order before they arrive. Not only should you ensure that everything is clean, but you could also add some homely touches, such as a welcome pack or fresh new bedding, to spread some Christmas cheer.

Our helpful checklist covers all of the smaller details that you may usually miss – make sure to tackle every area to give your guests the best first impression possible.

Whether you’re a landlord, tenant or homeowner, you can use our handy cleaning checklist to have a thorough clean up before Christmas.
